The snow on the ground reminds me of the forgiveness and cleansing of Christ that comes to every sinner who repents. It is a beautiful expression of God's love that so often we take for granted. God not only grants us a reprieve from the ultimate consequences of our sin, He also scrubs away the defiling residue of sin that would threaten to stain our image or self-worth. Can you grasp how infinitely valuable is the cleansing grace of God? He not only takes away our deserved punishment for sin, He restores us to a place where it's as though we had never sinned. He justifies us. He declares us fully innocent of any charges against us. That truth should elicit a response of pure joy and gratitude. It should also humble us to realize that we are the recipients of such "Amazing Grace." As you encounter the pristine beauty of a new fallen snow this winter, be ever reminded of God's saving work in your life. Reflect upon the truth that, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow." (Isaiah 1:18b). Then rejoice and give thanks. Pastor Jim
